Just When I Thought There Was No Going Farther Downhill

Today, I screwed my last and only chance to redeem myself in StratMan class. Last Friday's requisite sourgraping was for good reason. We were practically made the poster kids for What Not To Do On Your StratMan Report. As if I hadn't been damaged enough with the shitty report, today my academic life decided on a suicide. On the day I did not read the case, on the day I did not write the case, on the day I did not even get to touch our paper much more read it, I get called to panel. Someone who holds my stars must really love me, they keep my lucky stars safely stashed away -- there where I can never find it.

Shitty pop culture (which I consume in obcene amounts in the form of TV and B movies) tells you its always about the big things. In happiness, in diappointments, in practically everything else, everything is pretty much measured throught the big things -- family, friends, school, career. Disappointments mainly come from failure in these areas, only. What it doesn't tell you is that failure in little everyday nitty gritties can add up to one big shitty emotional mess. That the big things can be pretty okay (and this is not saying they are going alright) but things still don't feel right.

So many things going on, it just makes me go, "Whoah, life". I am trying gratitude here, but everything pretty much going all wrong in all possible ways just makes me unable to. Sometimes, all I ask for is a little respite. I wish, You give me the small things.

Bentang benta!

In the midst of my brain stuffed full (I never said it was all important stuff), group dynamics gone haywire, and the general hohum feeling I've been nursing for the longest time, The Morning Rush managed to crack me up. Fan love gets the better of me, I guess. I'm here in the BA lib finishing work for the Culminight, and of course, free nternet access always wins me over. Anyhoo, I was checking Chico's blog when I came across his Top Ten post. At the risk of looking like a total doofus because I am alone here in the library table, stifling laughter like a retard, I shall repost and share.

For the uninitiated, let me share about the Morning Rush. I call the Morning Rush my One Undying Devotion. Haha. It's a morning show at RX 93.1 hosted by Chico and Delle that runs from 6 to 9. It has a special segment called the Top Ten where the hosts announce a topic for the day and the listeners text in their answers. Chico (or Delle on Wednesdays) picks out 30 entries in all and announces them in fives every thirty minutes. You get the drill. This Top Ten's topic was: Dumbest Things You've Ever Heard Anyone Say. It's hands-down funny!

Funnier thing is, I've downloaded an audio version of this already, but reading it now still cracks me up! This is hilarious. So here's a ripoff of the Top Ten from Chico's blog:

  • Dongster - While watching the news yesterday about a kid killed by a bulldozer, our maid commented: “Kaya ayoko mag-alaga ng aso eh…”
  • Loipogi - Nadia Montenegro promoting her movie: “Please watch ‘The Life Story of Julie Vega’, opening na po on the twenty-twoth of November.”
  • Frederique - In a burger joint I heard a man say: “Miss, isa ngang ‘amusing’ aloha at saka ‘kidney’ meal.” Server: “Dine in po ba or to go?” The man answered: “Ayoko ng sago!”
  • Marissa - My friend said: “Ang galing ‘no, yung Ash Wednesday last year , Miyerkules din pumatak!”
  • Dukeman - My aunt was going to the US for the 1st time. She told us: “Nagpapabili ang tita niyo ng ‘autistic’ guitar. Saan ba nakakabili nun?”
  • No name - Barker ng bus: Ah Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao!!!” Pasahero: “Boss, Cubao?”
  • Slowbyslow - I overheard a lady place an order at Starbucks: “One cup of chino please.”
  • Ruby - My sister said of our neighbor who was our arch enemy: “Mamatay na sana kapitbahay natin!” I told her not to say that, coz it might bounce back to us. Then she said, “Ah ganun ba yun? In that case, mamatay na sana tayo!”
  • Asht - I had a meeting with a friend and I noticed that both of us were wearing stripes. He suddenly blurted out: “Uy, stripes din! It’s the color of the day!”
  • Jonalou22 - From the gameshow “The Weakest Link”. Host Edu Manzano asked: “Anong ‘T’ ang ibinibigay ng konduktor pag nagbayad ka ng pamasahe sa bus?” Ian Veneracion answered: “TUKLI!”

In your face incoherence

I am just so overwhelmed with everything. I have marketing to do and it's not helping that that for the most part, the answers I get are mostly NO. I am still hungover with feasib, and that's something I pretty much cannot do anything about.

Okay, let's use kidspeak and let's make my life easier. I am sad. I don't know what will make me happy(er) and I am thinking that's the harder part. I can't possibly keep on going out because after some time, THE Friends will get tired of the Whiny Kid, and resources will run out. I cant keep forcing people to throw out money at eating places that make us pay outrageous service charge, just because I feelbad and I need company. But on second thought, maybe my friends are spineless people and I can bully them some more :P Oh, I love my friends! (That was the first statement of my life that is not , laced with any trace of sarcasm. I am proud). Thank heavens for friends who won't admit they love you, but go out of their way to show you :)

Three cheers for you my lovely, spineless bitches! I am fighting the urge to actually say I Love You, because I know I shall never be forgiven for this one little slip. Heehee. That felt better :)

But still. In true Whiny Kid fashion -- Gah, this sucks. I hate it when I'm stuck in a rut I have no idea how to get out of (which is almost all the time). Thanks to THE friends, but my battle cry still is -- So much to do, so little resolve to start working.

One last stretch before our hibernation

It's two in the morning, and we're still here at Cuayo's. Fourteen hours away from our deadline and all acting weird like anything. Sleep is very much a luxury and if we all had our way, I know we'd all drop everything , including lappies in the Char Arias Mode, to hit the sack. I wish this were just a reflection paper I could cram and then leave. But NO. This. is the Feasifrickinbility Study. Wuh. Maybe if I close my eyes it'll all go away. But I open my eyes again and the Word file is still waiting for me.

One last stretch before our hibernation....

Sleep well, sleep well. Sleep tomorrow you shall be comodified. I shall have too much of you til you come out of my ears. My eyes are NOT going to give up on me til 5pm later. Fourteen frickin hours.

Okay, enough stalling. Back to Writing.

P.S. I shall be forever grateful to Rachelle Lim for doing our diagrams and working on my (badass) Gantt Chart! :) Thankyouuuu!

Dumdeedumdeedum-ing to March

We're three days away from the Feasib deadline. Hohum. Nobody seems to be flustered, though. It's as if we're just waiting for Thursday to get over and done with. And no, I don't take it against anyone from Merry Feasib (and yeah, that's really how the collective's called :P), cos I pretty much feel the same. I guess everyone really lost "it" (um, magic? or excitement? I can't put a word to it, so for blogging purposes, "it" shall suffice) when we got news of the three-week extension.

And NO defense -- I still can't make up my mind about how I should feel about that. On the one hand, it takes this big cloud over your head. No more clammy hands and the dugdug of heavy heartbeats from worrying about stuttering mid-report. It's kind of a sigh of relief. Kind of. On the other hand, I feel like the defense is kind of a rite of passage before you really can call yourself a graduate, especially from BA. Some part of me feels like we're missing out on something there. Oh well, I might be getting overly emotional. Hayhay.

The thing that makes our feasib more stressful, is the fact that we can't quite pin it down whether we got it easier or we were only led to believe that. The instructions on the technical study (or the supposed absence of it, since were were getting Eng'g Feasibs) was really unclear. Pwede meron, pwede wala. Which kind of clouds the entire rationale for the feasib originally being given only two months working time. Okay, enough issues for the day :P

But in all fairness to Merry Feasib ( am kinda getting the hang of calling it that, it still feels awkward in the tongue though. Haha), the group dynamics more than made up for the shitty things we endured in class. I was about to say some shitty emotional speech, but I guess that'll have to wait until after we turn in THE feasib. No getting ahead of ourselves. So yeah, expect a really emotional post after Thursday :P Heehee.

Here's to three full days of REAL cramming. Let's go, Wego! (Haha, just had to write that :P)

Life so far

It's a Saturday morning and we were greeted Hello and Goodmorning by some news. Bad News. Some shithead tried to break into the shop. Goodmorning. And I wasn't even over last night's drama and then there's new piece of news to digest. My life's getting waaaay too grown up. Gah, not ready.

It broke my heart to see Dad forcing the orange door open because the *bleep*'s (hint hint: body cavity) broke the locks. We had a total of four locks, two for the iron gate, one for the door knob, and another for the dead bolt. The *bleep*'s cut the two locks for the gate, and from this we can tell they were prepared for the "attack". And then they hammered the door knob. But they had another lock to contend with, the dead bolt, which basically saved our asses from a shop swept clean from theft. The bad boys tried to force the door open with something like a heavy metal rod, which cracked the thin door and the door jamb. Thankfully, the shitheads didn't get a chance to break the door open, cos they probably got too frustrated cos the dead bolt was a really tough job. This meant the stubborn locks took them long enough for the next door neighbor to get up, get some lights open, and basically scare the doofuses away by his sheer presence (Thank you, Carlo).

We all woke up early, and then after quick bath rushed to the shop. We were greeted by the sad-looking door-knob which we can barely recognize. It took us a good thirty or maybe even forty minutes to get inside. It was just sad. I wanted to cry, but I knew it was the lame thing to do. Plus, it wouldn't be any help, so I shushed myself and tried to see humor in the batsh*it we found ourselves in. Hello Life, I think we're getting a little too much shit than we can take. Break please.

And because I was holding the tears in and trying to find humor in the thing, I fortunately found funny things. By the time my dad hit the fifth minute trying to force the door open, we have a troop of at least five men in the background trying to stick their noses in the situation. If that were me, I'd probably be pissed at all the people who act like they know the answer to my dilemma. But since we were in dire need, Dad let them. And then later I figured, it was more heartwarming than irritating. The men went out of their way to see if we were okay and then tried to help us. A few more minutes later and we had a party already. We had two housewives checking out the scene, three kids waiting for the shop to open, and then the five men who each had a say as to how to open the lock. It was amusing I didn't really notice it took us almost an hour.

One more funny thing. All the cars, tricycles, and people who passed by the shop took at least five seconds to ogle and try to find out what happened. That's just uncannily the Pinoy way. And then halfway through the thing, there was a white 60-ish guy with six-year old girl in tow, who passed by. They were pretty noticeable cos well, they're white and the guy's pretty huge. Funny thing is, even with the sea of people crowding our tiny shop, the white guy didn't even flinch to take a look. He just went on with his way, as if there wasn't an intriguing blob of people building up by the roadside. It was amusing, in a cultural way.

So yeah, I guess you really can find humor when you look for it.

The Babble Battalion

Yesterday I said, today's the day I'll make a conscious effort to try to lose weight. But NO. Today, I ate my famed DQ sandwich because um, I got a headache and I can't not eat my sandwich :P And then later in the day, before we went home, Mum was kind (err, or maybe unkind?) enough to feed me McNuggets, McFries, McSarsi, and well, McFat, McSaturated Fat. So much for today's successes. And let's not even get to dinner. It was fried chicken bottoms. Gah, it was soo good, it gave me a headache. Haha. McCholesterol, hallo. And yeah, I don't mean the good one.

Am feeling blah. And it has very little to do with the unsuccessful first day of The Great Attempt To Lose Weight. It has to do with um, estrogen levels shooting through the roof? I don't even know. And am pretty positive it's not that. Gah, am spiraling out. Boo.

Oh, the guilt

Hullo 2008. This is gonna be a happier post than the last one :P

The (badass) holidays are getting in the (freaking) way of our feasib. *oh, happy post, happy post, heehee* You know how when you're supposed to be working on something, something as important as the feasib (aka the BA version of a thesis), and you're not, you have this odd guilt welling up inside you? Oh well, this is what the holidays has been about for me. Gah, sucks. You get around not doing what your supposed to be doing -- but the guilt KILLS. Seriously kills. Haha.

It's the holidays for, crying out loud. Party-ing, going out, bumming and doing shxtty unproductive things should be guilt-free. But nooooooo. With every non-feasib thing I do, i have this nagging little voice in my head that tells me, "Heyo lazyass betch, work, work, work!" Hayayayay.

Okay, so this is a rant entry. Whatever. Screw happy thoughts, may temporary shortage. IT's all about the guilt and trying to get over it -- in vaaaaaain. Haha. But you know me, guilt or no-guilt, i find ways. Ways to um, try to ignore the guilt. (Huh? Labo nun, ah. Ohwell.) So here's why the guilt's all worth it. Heehee.

He's gonna mary meee :P Haha, joke lang. My favorite-est drummer :) Gah, i never get his angle right. And I look trashy. Boo.

Wala lang. I don't like him a lot, but since I always look prettier in fotos with him, i'll put this up narin :P And well okay, he's cute. Heehee.

And because it's all about boys -- my favorite-est boy :) All together now, awww :) *random kid, heehee :P*

Okay, with that over and done with, I shall deal with the guilt and that betch of a nagging voice inside my head, I shall write NOW :) Bye.

P.S. Oh, last last, I just figured now that I want a Starbucks planner pala. Boo. So, with 17 stickers to go *scramble, scramble* I shal drink all the caffeine my system can take (erm, mabye even more). That's the lastlast, for real -- Okay, off to writing :)

the holidays

I just have a few (non-happy) holiday thoughts. Nope, i don't do it on purpose to coincide the cranky betch on supposedly happy days. It just happens. Blame it on the uh, weather? Haha, labo. Basta. Venting ahead.

Okay, let's start listing. One, the lazy pwet (oh, that's mine, btw) isn't moving. Immobilized by what else, monster P. Two, there's a feasib i have to write and the deadline's looming like monster under a kid's bed. Three, i just want to get out of here. Four, there's no one to call -- i think i badly need them now. Five, i need my rest and i can't have it if everything around me feels too tight and ready to explode. Six, menopause is a bitch. Seven, I've been watching a lot American TV series and it makes me wish really hard that talking to adults was just as easy as they do it. am beginning to hate how we do it here. Oh, and eight, little brothers and sisters aren't exactly welcome, but there are times i hate the one-kid household thing.

Random thought, the women of Private Practice have really beautiful and tight arms *envy*. Am loving Private Practice for the hot arms and that cute receptionist. Gahd, Kate Walsh is unbelievably beautiful. And even when she does that weird expression on her face when she acts, she's still amzingly pretty. Still the same Addison, just minus the lovesick and vengeful ex-Missus Derrick Shepherd. Oh, and am loving Cooper Freedman -- the puppy-dog eyes, the secret love and the endearing helplessness, it's sexy :P

Oh yeah, that's what's taking up my all my time -- American TV series. Rach gave me all these series and they're all funnn :) Private Practice, Friends, Gossip Girl -- omg, Dan and Serena aaaa! and whut, it's Nate and Blair uh-gain -- and finally got around to fixing the busted Grey's Anatomy cd :)

Oh and on another random thought, you can't blame people who leave when you keep pushing them away, can you? It sucks when it's such a bad habit you can't shake off. Pushing people away is addicting.

I figure am turning out to be a cranky betch on a regular basis. Not good, not good. I need my happy thought fairy. I hate the way college has turned me into a rational prick. Yes, i still am that messy emotional person but my thinking has changed a lot. No magic for me anymore, and it sucks. I need love. Haha, labo. But on second thought, maybe i do. Dan Humphrey? You coming soon? :P

P.S. (random thought sana lagay ko, but andami na :P) the last time i had the uh, visitor, there was amazingly no PMS. I think the happy thoughts and the secret smiles from that secret had something to do with it. The wit and charm are simply amazing and sometimes it makes me sick when i realize how much i love it. You're too hot, you're distracting. Haha. It kinda sucks how with women, looks are at the bottom of the priority list. It's amazing how we manage to appreciate wit and charm and smarts and personality and let go of that physical ideal. Oh well, You are a lucky plucky :)

Uh-oh

Haven't read anything for this sem yet. The closest i got to reading was browsing through the (pathetic) Business Comm readings. I don't take down notes in class. First, it was because I lost my black Pilot retractable. And then when i finally got hold of a new black Pilot retractable, I dont bring my notebooks to class because um, they're heavy. Or that the bag am bringing for that day has enough space only for the planner, alcogel, tissue, and that tube of liquid I put in my hair.

Oyeh, this coming from a kid who's supposed to be graduating in four months time. Ask me what I do and I tell you this -- I sit on the computer at home, that's the lappy plugged to the internet cable, with my limewire window open. And then I type up all these songs they made when I wasnt even born yet. And then I wait with my googly eyes til the darn thing finishes to download. And then when it's done, I find more things to type up and wait for. And because (I act like) I have all the idle time in the world, I open the window to this page that (makes me really happy but) eats up all my time. And then I sort my pictures and then I put them in this webbie that eats up all the meager time I have left, which should've been for studying really.

Boo.
